Cemetery

Ottery St Mary Town Council is a member of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) which is a national body, providing policy and best practice guidance to Burial and Cremation authorities since 1913. The aim of the ICCM is to raise standards for bereaved people,developing and promoting best practice in cemeteries and crematoriaThis aim reflects the Council’s commitment to giving the best possible service to those buried in our cemetery, and those mourning their loss.

Ottery St Mary Town Council Cemetery is owned by Ottery St Mary Town Council, and managed by them. The cemetery has burials and interment of ashes from 1942 to the present day. The cemetery is located in Higher Ridgeway, Ottery St Mary, Devon EX11 1DT. The Cemetery has been identified by a red hashed area on the map below.

Any new memorials or additional inscription on an existing memorial must have the prior approval of the Town Council and must be installed by an appropriate contractor. Such requests can be made through a memorial mason.

Requests to reserve a plot may be made through the Council Administration Team but arrangements for a burial or interment of ashes is arranged through an undertaker. Both require the purchase of an Exclusive Right of Burial (EROB). Our booklet entitled Grave Ownership and Deed Transferral can be found below.
