Ottery St Mary Carnival is a vibrant community procession and one of a series of autumn carnivals held across Devon and Somerset. Taking place on 16 October 2026, it is the only carnival in Ottery St Mary and forms part of a wider carnival circuit that spans around three months and includes events in communities throughout the region. The tradition of illuminated carnival processions remains a distinctive feature of the South West’s event calendar.
The carnival is best known for its colourful evening procession of illuminated and creatively decorated floats, accompanied by music and entertainment. Spectators can enjoy a variety of entries including Carnival Royalty, majorettes, dance groups, torchbearers and community organisations. The parade often features an interesting mix of specialist and decorated vehicles, such as fire engines, tractors and other unique entries, all contributing to the spectacle and atmosphere.
