National Highways has confirmed the remaining programme of planned overnight road closures on sections of the A30 and A35 between Exeter and Bere Regis during 2026. These works are being carried out in phases to allow essential maintenance and improvements to take place.
When will the roads be closed?
All closures will take place overnight only, running from:
8:00pm until 6:00am
During the daytime, roads are expected to reopen as normal unless otherwise stated by National Highways.
Which roads are affected?
Different sections of the A30 and A35 will be affected at different times.
The remaining works will take place in phases on the following sections and dates:
Axminster to Bridport (A35)
1 July 2026 to 18 July 2026
Bridport to Dorchester (A35)
19 July 2026 to 8 August 2026
Dorchester Bypass (A35)
10 August 2026 to 15 August 2026
Stinsford to Bere Regis (A35)
17 August 2026 to 5 September 2026
What should road users do?
- Please plan journeys in advance, particularly if travelling overnight.
- Diversion routes will be in place and clearly signed during closure periods.
- Allow extra time for travel, especially for longer-distance journeys.
Why is this information important?
Providing advance notice of road closures helps residents, businesses, visitors and emergency services plan ahead and reduce disruption. Overnight working is intended to minimise the impact on daytime travel as much as possible.
