Biography
I have lived in Devon for nearly 40 years and have been in Ottery for the last 5 years. My wife is a qualified nurse, and I am a property auctioneer and consultant and both of us still work part time. I work mostly from home or from my office in Exeter.

We both love Ottery and look forward to staying in the area having previously lived in Dartmoor, which was colder, wetter and much windier.

I have been an Ottery Town Councillor for four and a half years and previously a parish councillor on Dartmoor for 21 years. I stood to become a councillor as helping and being part of the neighbourhood in which one lives is important and Town Council is one way of doing that.

I believe it is important to get a more co-ordinated approach to residential planning and making sure the right type of houses are built in the parish and of a number the infrastructure can cope with. I would like to see most new houses being built in the parish under the local plan to be terraced or semi-detached lower value homes and to see much more social housing for rent.

A priority of mine has been trying to improve the appearance of the Conservation Area, the centre of which should be the gem of Ottery. I also want to ensure that Sainsbury’s car park remains open and free to customers out of store hours.
