DCC has provided an update on the timescales for the repair works on the Tipton St John–Bowd route
From 9th March:
Initial activity will include vegetation clearance and tree felling.
Main repair works start the following week (w/c 16 March).
DCC’s contractor will begin work on two key areas:
The main washout site, which has caused the current road closure
Estimated duration: approximately 5 weeks
A further section of embankment instability
This will require another new wall to be designed and constructed.
Estimated duration: an additional 5 weeks
DCC therefore anticipates completion of the full scheme by late May / early June.
DCC has stated that they will do everything possible to reopen the road as soon as they can, and that completing all necessary works now will help future‑proof the route and reduce the risk of further closures later on.
