Ottery St Mary Town Council is seeking an Assistant Town Clerk to support the Town Clerk in delivering both the operational and strategic work of the Council. The role covers governance, finance, community engagement, property and asset management, events, digital communications, and cemetery administration. Acting as Deputy Clerk when required, the postholder will play a key part in day‑to‑day Council operations and community-focused projects.
The ideal candidate will be professional, organised, and confident, with strong communication skills. Local government experience is desirable, and the Council will support ILCA/CiLCA training. The position is full-time (37 hours per week), permanent, and paid at SCP 18–23 (£31,537–£34,434 FTE). A DBS check is required.
