Ottery Community Theatre is an inclusive amateur society formed in 1985 following the very successful Colway Theatre Trust production of Ottery’s community play ‘The Ballad of Tilly Hake’ by Sheila Yeger. The society’s objective is ‘”to promote the performing arts and to encourage public appreciation of such arts in the community of Ottery St Mary and District”. Since its formation, the society has staged some memorable productions.
Ottery Community Theatre is open to adults and children in year 6 and over! You can expect a supportive environment and plenty of fun. No experience is necessary – we always encourage new members. We usually have two productions a year, a Pantomime and our Summer Shows for you to get involved in.
There are many roles for our adult and junior members, including; Acting, Sound and Lighting, Live Band, Back Stage Crew, Painting, Prop Design, Makeup, Costumes, Front of House, Chaperones and more.
You are also welcome to join our committee to help steer the group in its quest to entertain.
We rehearse in various spaces and performances are held at The Institute.
